When Does Burger King Release W-2 Forms?
By law, all US employers must provide W-2 forms to employees by January 31 each year covering the prior calendar year’s earnings. Burger King corporate and franchise operators follow this deadline. If your W-2 has not appeared in your portal by mid-February, something is wrong and you need to act.
Carrols BK Employees – W-2 at ess.burgerk.com
Log in to your employee portal at carrols.com/Home/Employee and go to Tax Statements or Year-End Documents to access your Burger King W-2 form. Your W-2 is ready by January 31 each year. You can also view your W-2 online at ess.burgerk.com/ess/.
From the Carrols portal, navigate to Tax Documents or Year-End Forms, select the relevant tax year, and download your W-2 as a PDF.
Carrols employees who chose electronic delivery will see their W-2 in the portal. Those who did not consent to electronic delivery will have their W-2 mailed to the address on file no later than January 31.

Former Burger King Employees Getting Their W-2
Former Burger King employees retain the legal right to their W-2 even after portal access ends. For Carrols locations, contact payroll@carrols.com or call +1-315-479-5548. Provide your name, employee ID number, and the last address on file. They can either mail a paper copy or restore temporary portal access.
For independent franchise locations, contact the HR office at your former restaurant directly with your employee ID and employment dates.
W-2 Not Showing Up — How to Fix It
Did not complete electronic consent — This is the most common reason. Most Burger King payroll portals require you to opt in to electronic W-2 delivery before they release the document digitally. If you skipped this step, log in to your portal and complete the electronic consent under the Tax Documents section. Your W-2 should appear within 24 hours after consent is recorded.
It is before January 31 — W-2 forms are not legally required until January 31. Checking before that date means your W-2 simply is not ready yet.
Your address in the system is wrong — If McDonald’s is mailing a paper W-2 and you have moved, it goes to your old address on file. Log in to your portal and update your address in the personal information section. Then contact your payroll department to request a reissued copy.
You worked at two different Burger King locations — If you transferred between franchise groups during the year, you may receive two separate W-2 forms from two different employers. Check both portals and confirm you have a W-2 from each entity that paid you.
Key W-2 Boxes Explained
| Box | What It Shows |
| Box 1 | Total taxable wages for the year |
| Box 2 | Federal income tax withheld |
| Box 3 | Social Security wages |
| Box 4 | Social Security tax withheld |
| Box 5 | Medicare wages |
| Box 6 | Medicare tax withheld |
| Box 12 | Special items such as 401k contributions (code D) |
| Box 15 to 17 | State employer ID, state wages, and state tax withheld |
Box 1 may look lower than your total gross earnings if you made pre-tax contributions to a 401k or health insurance plan, since those reduce your taxable wages.
